Del Mar Solana Beach Sunrise Rotary

Who Are We?

The Del Mar Solana Beach Sunrise Rotary Club provides service to the community, both local and international. It consists of professionals, business owners, managers, and other service-minded individuals, with a mix of about 70% men and 30% women. It meets Friday mornings at 7:15 a.m. for breakfast at the Doubletree Inn Carmel Valley.

The Club has an active service orientation, providing physical as well as financial assistance to others. For example, it has upgraded and repaired local community buildings and grounds, sent containers of books to schools overseas; delivered dialysis machines to a charity hospital in southern India; funded materials for solar cookers in Madagascar; supported an orphanage and a school in Tijuana; sent youth to leadership training programs, sponsored Interact Clubs at Canyon Crest Academy and Earl Warren Middle School, and supported the Community Resource Center and its home for battered women; Family Literacy Foundation - Youth Reading Role Models; Straight from the Heart - Foster Care of San Diego, the Children's Creative Workshop, youth soccer, Boy Scout Eagle projects and many other community activities. The Del-Mar Solana Beach Sunrise Rotary Club was established in 1992 and is part of District #5340, comprised of approximately 58 clubs in San Diego and Imperial Counties.

What is Rotary?

Rotary International is the world's first service club. The original Rotary Club was organized in Chicago in 1905 to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise. Rotary International leverages the resources of over 28,000 clubs world-wide and their nearly 1.2 million men and women members to improve the world. Its activities include projects to eradicate polio worldwide, increase education, health, and welfare for underprivileged peoples, and improve understanding and cooperation around the world.

Who are Rotarians?

Rotarians are business and professional men and women who are community and national leaders, united worldwide to conduct humanitarian projects, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Through their Clubs, their District organizations, and the Rotary Foundation, Rotarians plan and carry out a variety of educational, humanitarian, and cultural programs that touch peoples' lives in their local communities and throughout the world.
